This article will cover the following topics;
First, let's understand two basic principles; what is an ETA, and what is a task duration.
➡An ETA is the Estimated Time of Arrival, the time at which it is estimated that the driver will arrive at the recipient.
➡A task duration is the time it will take for your driver to perform 1 task. Gomove allows you to set various task duration depending on the nature of your task. For example, a simple drop-off can take 5 minutes while an installation could take 1h30.
To calculate accurate ETAs for each of your customers along the journey, Gomove needs to take into account the time to drive to each of your customers and how long each task will take to perform. While you can't predict exactly how long any specific task will take, we strongly recommend setting a representative average.
If you notice ETAs are correct at the beginning of the routes but get progressively worse as the route goes on, this could be related to your default Stop Duration not being right. For example, if you put 10min for each drop-off task and your drivers require 20min for each drop-off, your ETAs will be wrong in the end.
if your ETAs are too late, try increasing the Stop Duration
if your ETAs are too early, try decreasing the Stop Duration
Setting a default Task Duration
To set your default Stop Duration, log into your administrator account.
Head to your Settings menu➞ Operations➞Task&Mission.
Default task duration
Here you can set the average task duration for your pick-ups and drop-offs. Find out how long your drivers actually take on average to complete a stop and enter it in the input field shown above.
If you know any specific stops will have a Stop Duration very different from the average setup in your settings, you can set a custom Stop Duration for that specific stop while creating the stop.
Default installation time
As mentioned, Gomove allows you to set a different task duration when a product installation is required, for all the furniture retailers out there! While a drop-off should take no more than 5 minutes, an installation can take a long time.
Here you can set the average task duration for your installation.
Find out how long your team actually takes on average to complete an installation and enter it in the input field shown above.
If you know that a specific installation will have an Install Duration very different from the average, you can set a custom Stop Duration for that specific stop while creating the stop.
Important:
Make sure to enter the time in minutes and seconds. For example, if an average stop would take half an hour for your business, you would enter '30' into the 'Minutes' field.
ETA Delay - Default time
In simple terms, what is a delay for you? Is 15min past the delivery time a delay for you? If so simply set your ETA Delay Default Time to 15min.
Gomove calculates accurate ETAs for each of your customers along the journey based on your Completed Before Time, if we think that your customer will be delivered later than 15 minutes after your Completed Before Time, we will show it in your dashboard!
In the example below, the customer Hercule Poirot and Marge Simpsons will be delivered 15 min or more later than their respective Completed Before Time.
Congratulations on setting up your Estimated Time of Arrival settings!
